Christopher Farmakis, M.D.
Dr. Farmakis is a native of Youngstown, Ohio. He completed his undergraduate studies at Youngstown State University with a BS in Biology, and went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine degree at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. He completed Internal Medicine residency at Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. After residency, he decided to pursue a fellowship in Nephrology also at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
Dr. Farmakis holds an interest in all aspects of nephrology. He especially enjoys helping patients navigate, understand, and manage the complexities of Acute Kidney Injury and Chronic Kidney Disease. He further has expertise in the treatment of critical care nephrology, glomerular disease, kidney stones, hypertension, dialysis, and electrolyte abnormalities.
Dr. Farmakis also enjoys integrating medicine and global health. He has done medical mission work in various countries including Guatemala, Ecuador, and Bangladesh, and he has a passion to treat the medically underserved patients both here and abroad. He is also fluent in Spanish and enjoys working with the local Hispanic population in helping to treat their kidney disease.
Outside of work, Dr. Farmakis loves spending time with his family, traveling, experiencing new foods and cultures, and watching documentaries. He is available for both inpatient and outpatient consultations through Fredericksburg Nephrology Associates.
